Gung Hay Fat Choy!
Happy Chinese New Year. We spent today talking and learning all about Chinese New Year. We learned all about the colour red and why is that important. In our class three people were born in the year of the rat and the rest of the students were born in the year of the ox. 2015 will be the year of the sheep! Some of us started an blossom art project and we will finish next week. Below you find some stories and songs that you can share as a family.

Post to the blog something you learned about Chinese New Year!
This week we have been working a lot on rhyming words. Yesterday we met the "at" family and all the grandchildren (cat, bat, hat, sat etc). You can review this concept at home by saying , " If I can spell at, I can spell . . ." During this activity it became really apparent which children know what and rhyming word is and those that do not. At home you can be practicing these skills. Give your child a word and see if they can come up with a rhyming word, say three words (EG, cat, bat and kid) and see of your child can pick out the one that does not rhyme.
