Happy Monday to all! I hope that you have all been able to enjoy the unusually warm weather and that we have been able to get outside and play. Remember to watch your step as your cross our school field in the mornings. It seems to cool off just enough to create a skating rink each night!
This morning we welcomed Ms. Miceli, our new Educational Assistant to our kindergarten classrooms. She will be working in both rooms from now until the end of June. Please take the time to say hello and welcome her. Mrs. Brock is still working with us in kindergarten too. How lucky are we!
Over the last few days we have read and enjoyed "The Napping House" several times. Have your child retell this story to you in their own words. At this point they should be able to recall the story in great detail.
Here is a link so that you can view the story at home!

We then worked in pairs to try and figure out, how many feet were in "The Napping House" in total. Have your child try and redo this problem at home. Many of them may remember that the answer was 22, but have them explain how they came to the answer to see if they really understand.
Strategies we tried at school were: using objects, drawing a picture, adding numbers using the number line, groups of dots on a page
Post to the blog and explain your child's thinking.
Today we met "Rock Brain" and "Glassman". Have your child explain these two characters to you and strategies that can be used to help avoid these two characters from allowing you to be "the incredible flexible you".
Here are two videos that you can watch to better explain the "Rock Brain" and "Glassman":
