I am not sure what happened to last night's post, but it has disappeared into internet thin air! I only realized this when I went to check for blog comments.
This morning was, as usual, a busy morning in kindergarten. We did some "quickdraw" work this morning to wake us up!. This is when Mrs. Weir gives you ten seconds to look at a unique shape or design. Next we cover up the design and try to draw what we saw using our memories. If required we can get a second look. It is important to remember that you cannot put marker to whiteboard during viewing times. After we have done the shape we ask a few people to explain the strategies that they used and the steps that they took. Try this game at home ! You might be surprised how differently we all problem solve.
With the whiteboards already out we then moved into some letter/sound work. Mrs. Weir will say a word aloud and then on the whiteboard you must write down the letter that the word starts with. This is a great game to also be playing at home as many of us are still working on our letter sounds and letter recognition. For those that have beginning sounds under control we are working on writing the beginning, middle and end sounds that we hear in words.
In gym today we moved into "Mission Impossible" (obstacle course)! It was exciting to see the gym looking very different. Ask your child to what they found tough!
Important Information:
For Friday please have your child bring to school supplies (recyclable items: boxes, lids, jars etc) that can be used to build a leprechaun trap! Each year our classroom has been disrupted by pesky leprechauns and this will be the year that we finally catch one. We will be building our traps with our buddies on Friday morning!!
Thursday is Funky Footwear Day! Come dressed wearing cool shoes/ or amazing socks!
Message from the grade six class:
The Grade 6s have decided to make a difference by "Stuffing a Mug" to help families in need. These mugs will then be delivered to CUPS to help the homeless. For this class service project, we are asking for donations from our families. If you are able to assist, please send donations to the Grade 6 classroom! We hope to put our mugs together next week, so we are asking for donations by Monday, March 16!
Thank you!
The Grade 6s!
